Exploring Memory and Justice: Sarajevo Study Trip by Kristína Moncoľová

Updated: Jul 9

On a holiday day on 1st May, BISLA went on a trip to Sarajevo, to learn about genocide and war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 90s.

At first we underwent long, but beautiful road.

We arrived at our hotel with this astonishing view! As we arrived we experienced aesthetic walk through night Sarajevo.

The first day we visited History Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, we learned a lot about war and genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 90s. Moreover, we also had a beautiful artistic experience there.

The next day we went to Srebrenica to visit Srebrenica Memorial Museum to learn about Genocide that took place in Srebrenica which was very tragic. We learned to appreciate our current lives and also honoured the victims of this tragedy. We must never forget.

The last day we enjoyed by seeing former Olympic track, which is now beautiful artwork full of graffiti and we connected this with the trip by cable car with nice view and also tourism, because we went by forest way back to the city for two hours.

Finally, we enjoyed our last dinner all together in the Sarajevo city centre with beautiful sunset.

We are very grateful for the important trip that learned us a lot and great opportunity full of beautiful views 😊
